illuminate

Glass can be found in objects used to illuminate indoor and outdoor spaced during evenings and nights. Lanterns protect the burning wick from draughts and from extinction. Wall sconces, table lamps and chandeliers with beeswax candles use the light reflections of the glass decoration which glitters and sparkles and brighten walls and ceilings with their reflected patterns. Here, the glass has an aesthetic function. The so-called “Schusterkugel”, a hollow glass ball filled with water, was used to bundle the light and enabled craftsmen to work independently of natural daylight.
